Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will host its second Earth Day-themed 5K race. The event will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 beginning at 9 a.m. on ECTC’s main campus at 600 College Street Road, Elizabethtown, KY 42701.
Race proceeds will benefit two ECTC student organizations and the Center for Courageous Kids. CCK is a non-profit medical camping facility where children living with life-threatening illnesses and their families can attend free of charge and have fun, find respite, feel normal and forget about their everyday struggles. The two sponsoring ECTC organizations are the Kentucky Association of Nursing Students and the Biology Club, and each club is actively involved in planning the event.
Participants will run/walk the 5K course circling ECTC’s beautiful Elizabethtown campus. Attendees are invited to partake in several Earth Day-themed activities including donating used running shoes and books to be recycled. New and gently used prom dresses and accessories will also be collected for the Granted Grace Foundation which provides prom wear to young women who cannot afford it.
Sponsors currently include Neil Huffman Subaru, the ECTC Student Government Association, Running Soles, WKU, and VIP Fitness.
